Cheetah 101 (“we”, “us”) is a Mac app and the website https://cheetah101.com, run by Roman Pushkin in the United States. This page says exactly what we collect, why, who else sees it and how to delete it. The short version: screenshots are not stored, we keep an email address and a few counters, and we never sell anything.
What we collect
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | To send sign-in codes and identify your account | Until you delete the account |
| Sign-in sessions: when each started and was last used, “web” or “app”, and the Mac's name the app reports (like “Anna's MacBook Air”) | To keep you signed in and to show and end sessions on your account page | Until you sign out there or delete the account |
| Hint counters: when a hint was made, whole screen or area, how long it took, how many steps, the kind of result (for example “in progress” or “looks done”), how many AI tokens it used, and an error code if it failed | Daily limits, your account page, and keeping the service fast and affordable | Until you delete the account |
| Sign-in codes, stored only as a one-way hash | To check the code you type | 15 minutes, or until used |
| Your email and a one-way hash of your IP address, each time a code is requested | To stop people from flooding an inbox with codes | 24 hours |
| Mail server logs (which address a code was sent to, and when) | To find out why an email did not arrive | 4 weeks |
Passwords: there are none. Payment details: we take no payments. Our server keeps technical error logs to fix bugs; they do not contain screenshots.
Screenshots
The app takes a screenshot only when someone presses Whole screen or Select area, and only of that screen or that box. The picture travels over an encrypted connection to our server, which shrinks it and sends it to Anthropic (the Claude API) to write the hints. The hints come back to the app. We do not save the screenshot on our server, in our database or in our logs; it exists only in memory while the hint is being made.
Anthropic processes the picture under its commercial terms for API customers, which do not allow it to train its models on this data and limit how long it is kept. Anthropic's own policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
A screenshot can contain whatever is on the screen, such as a name on a worksheet. Use Select area to share only the task.
Who else gets data
- Anthropic: screenshots and our instructions, to produce hints (see above).
- Nobody else. Our website, API, database and mail server run on our own server in the United States. There are no advertising or tracking scripts on the site and in the app.
- Law enforcement: only when a valid court order or subpoena from a United States court requires it, and there is little to hand over.
Cookies
One cookie, c101, keeps you signed in on this website. It is not used for tracking or advertising. The Mac app keeps its own sign-in token on your Mac.
Children
Cheetah 101 is made for students, including children. An account should be created by a parent or guardian, or by a student who is at least 13. If you are under 13, ask a parent to sign in for you. A parent who sets up the app for a child agrees to this policy on the child's behalf. If you believe a child under 13 signed up without a parent, write to us and we will delete the account.
Your choices
- See what we have: your account page shows your email, sessions and hint counts.
- End a session: “Sign out there” on the account page.
- Delete everything: Delete account on the account page removes your email, every session and every hint counter at once. Mail server logs age out after 4 weeks.
- Questions or requests: hello@cheetah101.com.
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your data and to object to its use. Write to us and we will act on it within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in codes and session tokens are stored only as hashes, so a copy of our database would not let anyone sign in as you. No system is perfect; if we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you by email.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top first. Big changes are announced on the site before they take effect.
